Rubber Stamp Carving Tutorial

This tutorial was created quite awhile ago, but I didn’t include it in my blogs (maybe I did). I decide to record it here too :) It was carved around the christmas seasons.

1. sketch the picture ^^ and trace it on a tracing paper

2. i used a 2B pencil to draw thick lines of the picture, so that when i flip it onto the eraser, apply some pressure on the surface, it will be transferred on the eraser.

3. it might not be completely transferred on the eraser, maybe i should use 8B ^^;

4. but it doesn’t stop me, i go over the picture with my pencil ^^

5. this time, i used a normal cutter for this stamp, i started off with lino cutter (smallest v blade) but it doesn’t cut well for details or curve lines. it works well to remove large areas though. normal cutters give me more control with the details and sharp edges.

6. working on the angel.

7. testing the stamp as i cut it. the ink also help me to see better. ^^ after extracting the detailed parts, i use the lino cutter to extract the large areas around the angel.
