Inspiration gathering day

September 4th, 2010 vonvonz Posted in Daily No Comments »

Went to Club street and Ann Siang Hill today before we head to Red Dot Museum.

First stop is to Woods in the Books. If you love books, this is a place for you, especially picture books with lovely illustrations. <3

Then we passed by Books Actually.

Have the Flourless Choccolate cake at K ki. : D It’s warm and yummy~

I like this place, natural lighting and feels like I can relax there, we rest a little before browsing the lovely items that The Little Drom Store has. ^^

Lastly we went to MAAD before heading to Bras Basah Complex for some art supplies. : )  These cute clay badges are by HodgePodge. They have some really nicely done illustrations and paper cut cards.

Butters

July 16th, 2010 vonvonz Posted in Daily No Comments »

Recently SPCA alerted everyone to identify this woman in the video because she was abusing the little dog with a sticks broom, hitting on the dog’s head repeatedly just because the dog chewed on the cushions that she intended to sell. I know how it feels like when your pet chewed on the things that belongs to you but most dogs chew on things and this is not a way to discipline a dog. It just pains my heart when I watched the video. What ticked me off most is when she was asked to stop, she turned around and hit the person recording the video with the sticks broom and exclaimed that it doesn’t hurt. Oh my goodness, upon hearing that it flares me up and the thought of hitting her face with that sticks broom just kept repeating in my head. How would she feel if it was her being hit that way? Not painful? I highly doubt so.

This video stirred up a big wave on Facebook after people shared it over and over again and it even drew attentions of people from overseas whom one of them also claim that he/she wrote a letter to Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA). Channel News Asia and local Channel 5 news reported about this case on TV 2 days ago I believe.

According to SPCA, the owner of Butters (name of the dog) had contacted AVA and they are investigating this case right now. SPCA is trying their best to appeal to AVA to take firm actions against this woman. Also they are encouraging the public to wrote in to AVA to voice their thoughts regarding this case.

As for me, I fear that Butters will stay with them or they get to keep pets again. She would hit Butter on the head for the cushions… what would she do if she is to be fined or jailed?

I shall not link the abuse video here but if you are curious, you should be able to get it on youtube if you search for butters/singapore/animal abuse.. etc. Watching the video and listening to it really makes me heart aches and my eyes teary. It is disheartening when I saw some comments claiming that hitting a dog like that is nothing because it is discipline and this person’s friends discipline their dogs like that on SPCA facebook. I hope this person is really ignorant and don’t really know how her friends discipline their dogs, if it is true, they need some education on how to train dogs.

Be the humming bird

July 15th, 2010 vonvonz Posted in Daily No Comments »

I have been watching quite a few documentaries lately and I came across Dirt! the Movie. It talks about how soil or what they call dirt is important to our lives. Then there is this animation about the humming bird that didn’t gave up like the others during the forest fire even when it is tiny and its effort may not mean a lot, when the other animals told it to give up, the humming bird said that them that it is trying its best.

I will try my best to do whatever I can to reduce, reuse and recycle. Believe that if everyone puts in a little effort everyday, it will come a long way in the future.  : )

Lazy bum

I think I’m too lazy to do big projects. I’ve always wanted to crochet something BIG, making a big project is a ‘dream’. But I’m too lazy and easily get bored after awhile. D: Since I hit maybe 60 stitches I get really bored and start to lose interest, especially foreseeing that I have to do 60 stitches for maybe 20 rolls… =A=;; I’m horrible, how am I ever gonna do any big project if I always lose interest. Maybe I need my design to spice it up until it is soooo motivating that I look forward to completing it.

So at the moment… probably gonna make small things. >3>;

Eco fi Felt

November 6th, 2009 vonvonz Posted in Daily No Comments »

I do my usual felt shopping whenever I can if I pass by the craft shops, so I just grab the colors that I want off the shelves not noticing that they are kinda different this time round until I get home and see this sticker on it. Eco fi polyester felt that is made from recycled post-consumer plastic bottles. I feel kinda excited when I see this sticker. LOL I support recycling and reuse. XD

Then I went online to do a search on Eco fi, that I came across this article. It is interesting to see how one thing affects the other. Possible cruelty to animals if the farm doesn’t treat them well, but if people stop using wool, sheep farms will go out of business… and so on. There are so many things to think about whether one should use more of wool felt or acrylic felt.

To be honest, I have not use wool acrylic before as they are not available in the local stores and ordering online is way too expensive. Often the older craft shops sell their felt in little pieces without any information of them but they are mainly acrylic felts. I know wool felts looks better and probably are easier to craft with, but for little toys, I would think that acrylic felts are nice enough. Now I hope to see more recycled eco fi felt around, since plastic bottles are laying around why not make good use of them? : )

The next thing I’m hoping to do is to get hold on fleece so that I can make bigger plushies that will not have balls on them after snuggling with them for awhile. ^^;

Dancing Mushroom Bois

After a year, the mushroom bois are still dancing around in my room. (in the ziplock actually) hehe I decided to let them out of the bag for some fresh air. ^^ Recently the bf bought a new camera Ricoh CX2 and I am loving it already. Previously I had been using Canon Powershot A80 for a long time but recent years it’s been acting kinda weird, hence I don’t take much photographs. ^^;

New Labels

New Label

I used up all the previous labels so since I am printing more, why not I make a new ones? :D So I threw in a bunch of happy apples! Might be doing some tweaking to the colors though, the red seems a little too dark.
